EAR CANDLING

Hopi ear candling (also known as thermal-auricular therapy) is a safe and entirely natural therapy.

The benefits of this soothing and calming treatment include clearer hearing by removing excess wax, a sharpened sense of smell and taste, and improvement to inner ear balance (which is beneficial for post driving and post flight pressure).

The origins of ear candling have been handed down through many civilisations starting with the Ancient Greeks over three thousand years ago, the Egyptians, Chinese, East Indians and Tibetans also used them for cleansing, purifying and healing both on a spiritual and practical level. More recently, the candles were used by the shaman healers of the Hopi Indian tribe, in medicinal ceremonies and initiations to clear negative energies from the head and aura.

MORE ABOUT EAR CANDLING

Your treatment starts with a relaxing acupressure massage to the head and face; this is very effective for lymphatic and sinus drainage. The ear candle is then lit and positioned gently inside your ear, just enough so a seal is made and it is comfortable. As the candle’s flame warms the air within the candle, it in turn warms the air inside the ear (this will be undetectable to you). Any impurities and excess ear wax are gently warmed and drawn up into the candle; similar to a chimney effect. Gentle vibrations act to softly massage the ear, and the rising air helps to regulate pressure. It is a very relaxing and therapeutic feeling.

At Zensations, only Biosun manufactured ear candles are used for your health and safety; these have been certified with the CE mark according to the European Medical Device Directive. They are handmade, using 100% natural ingredients such as cotton, beeswax, honey, sage, chamomile and St. John’s wort, true to the original Hopi Indian tradition.

What Our Clients Say

  • I have been visiting Sally for the last 2 years and she has helped me stay injury free. I cycle and have used sports massage as a regular part of my training for many years now. I’m always throwing up something new each time I visit, whether it’s to free up my back, relieve tension in my neck, or flush out my legs, her knowledge and massage techniques are excellent, she helps me recover after training.

  • I have been going to the gym for several years now. I’m in my mid fifties and every so often I seem to injure myself for one reason or another. I end up having to take time out from the gym until I recover. One nagging problem I had for about two years, before meeting Sally, was Golfers elbow. I had been to the Doctors a few times regarding this problem, and I was told to wear a Tennis /Golfer Elbow support strap and stay away from weights in the Gym. But when I met Sally and she told me she could help, I thought I would give it a try. Well, if I’d have known Sally could relieve the pain in just a few massages I would have gone to her a lot sooner. I wish the Doctor had told me to get help rather than fobbing me off with a couple of useless suggestions. I’m now a regular at Sally’s, she just seems to know what is needed for whatever I go to see her about, I now go for prevention massages rather than wait until I’m injured, Sally will recommend stretches to prevent future problems when she notices tight muscles. Sally gives a very relaxing, unhurried massage. Every time I see her, she is so professional and knowledgeable, and her room is so relaxing with the soft music and oil diffuser fragrances. Sally is also very easy to get on with. I would recommend Sally to anyone and in fact I already have, to more than a few.

  • I immediately felt at ease when I visited for the first time. Sally is very skilled at remedial massage and acupuncture. She took a lot of time to understand the problem and give the treatment. I started to feel the benefits the next day and had further improvements after each session. I would thoroughly recommend Sally.

  • Stress from my busy work and family life made me feel exhausted. My friend recommended going to Sally for massage. I currently receive aromatherapy massage and it is working wonders, by the time I leave, I feel like I’m floating on air, without a care in the world, and I’m sleeping better. Sally is lovely, she is understanding and puts you at ease. Her massages are heaven on earth, I can’t recommend her highly enough.

  • I have been seeing Sally for about 8 months. When I first came I was getting headaches all the time. My neck, shoulders and back were always tight and painful, it was really bad. Sally is fantastic, she got rid of so many knots in my neck and shoulders. I feel so much better and my headaches have virtually gone. I used to take Paracetamol a lot of the time, now I hardly use them. I see Sally once a fortnight and it’s the best thing I do for myself.
